22) Very Nice Original WW1 British Army Officers Lifeguard Pocket Periscope With Case, Spare Mirror & Instructions. 22) An extremely nice original WW1 British officers private purchase "The Lifeguard Pocket Periscope". This one is in very nice condition. The outer cover is in nice condition and has clearly been well stored for the past 110 years. All is good and clean, the poppers are good as is the rear belt loop. The periscope is again lovely. The concertina mechanism works perfectly and is good and stiff presumably having seen little use. The side surface silvering shows some loss and dirt from age. The mirrors are good and usable but do show age related loss spots to the reflective rear layer (see photos). The bottom is excellent with just surface scratches and edge wear to the black painted finish. The top is in in the same condition as the bottom. The Original spare lens is still with it and in its outer paper packet. It has its alloy backing and comes with spare washers. The outer packet is good and readable but tatty, worn and torn. It comes with its original instructions for use of the periscope card which is again in nice order. A nice complete set.
