69) Good Original French Made WW1 British Army Issue Folding Lantern. Trench Candle Lamp. A really very nice 100% original WW1 folding candle lantern. This is a French made example as issued/carried by British & French troops. In good condition and folds nicely. The top fold out triangle with chimney vent shows ancient surface rust pitting but nothing deep (see photos). The rest is good but dirty from age use, it has the remnants of original green painted finish in places. . The lenses are very thin and of the original mica. One is excellent the other tatty and damaged but for these to have survived at all is pretty remarkable. The inside is good and still has the original candle stub left inside the candlestick holder. The rear body is nicely maker marked. A nice WW1 item in great condition.
