8) An unusual pair of high leg leggings, these are of rubberised waterproofed material, we are not sure if the are British or American? They are in good order, a soft and supple. Both straps and buckles are in place top and bottom, they are good and fairly supple but do show minor surface cracks and wear. The insides show age related spotting which is common for this type of material along with lots of dirt. they seem to be very faintly marked as a size 2 and are a correct opposite pair. They are maker marked but very faint. We had an identical pair previously which were dated 1913 so these are 100% WW1 or earlier. They measure 15 ½ inches top to bottom not including boot straps. At some point they were taken in to make them smaller but this has long since been undone and barely shows where the stitching was. See photos. They come with their original long khaki metal tipped laces. Each has a matching soldiers initials and number which looks more American than British.
