90) Boxed Original Defence & War Medal Pair Glasgow Home Guard Casualty Pte J.F.Turner. A genuine Home Guard issue medal pair to one of the 1,200 Home Guards men killed during WW2. A pretty scarce set and 100% original as issued. Men whom served in the Home Guard were only entitled to the defence medal but members of the Home Guard that were killed during service were entitled to both the war medal and defence medal as is the case here. The outer issue box is the original and excellent. The medals are again the originals and in very nice order. The certificate is again the original to the set. It shows minor marks to one part but in good order and commemorates Pte James Finlay Turner of the 4th City of Glasgow Home Guard whom sadly died on 14th March 1941 at the age of 31. It seems that he may have died during an air raid on Yarrow's shipyard? A pretty scarce set 100% Glasgow Home Guard.
