WW2 ERA Metropolitan Police Mans Cork Helmet & Badge

A nice original Metropolitan Police man’s material covered cork helmet complete with large original wartime Kings Crown badge with George 6^th cypher to the centre. The helmet is a nice honest example but has seen quite a bit of service by the looks of it, the outside material is good and complete but does show a fair amount of ancient dirt and wear, the peak is a little out of shape and is dirty from where the wearer has used the front rim to take it on and off, some of the edging feels a little loose but is still in place and not falling off, all metal fittings are in place and have a nice age patina to them, the badge is the original and excellent, the rear edging shows minor white paint which will scrape off with a bit of care. Internally the helmet looks pretty good although again shows quite a bit of dirt and wear from use, the chinstrap is long since gone and just the attachment points are left, it is around a size 6 ½ . Not the best example in the world but good and original and would make a nice display piece.
