An interesting trench art type lighter with ashtray!! This looks to have been made in North Africa as the coins that have been used around the edge of the ash tray look to be Egyptian or similar, the mortar has been neatly made into a lighter and mounted in to a German shell for a base/ashtray, the mortar can be taken of the base by simply unscrewing it. The mortar looks to be in excellent condition and is nicely chromed, the lighter has no flint in it and the wick is long since gone so needs a little attention, the main body is very tight and will not un-screw by hand so we have left it as is, the base is of a 1939 dated German shell with 1941 dated centre, the cigarette rests around the edge are made from coins, it is all in lovely condition just needs a good polish as it is dusty and dirty.
