A very interesting lot of 34 items all relating to William Pearce POW No 1656 the photographs start with a picture of him with other men of the RASC just before heading off to war, to the rear it says Bognor 1940, the rest are all related to his capture the first being a photo of them in Voulas Camp Greece in 1941 the rest are all 1943 & 1944 in Stalag XVIII A Austria, the photos of the camp show the football team (the 4 shown in a stack are identical) various of them outside their huts, some of them in working parties and one of them taken from the other side of the barbed wire! Several were sent home to his mother or wife and have interesting German sensor markings, the rest are portrait photos all of different service men (fellow POWs) whom were obviously close friends to Bill and many are written out to him and dated 1943-1944, some have home addresses to the rear presumably to keep in touch, these portrait photos are all printed in Austria & Germany and were produced while these men were in the camp. All are in excellent condition. A fascinating grouping with a good amount of info ideal for research.
