A very nice 100% original wartime life belt, these were originally a Royal Navy issue item but also had wide spread use by British and Canadian Beach assault troops the most famous being the D-Day landings in June 1944, they were also issued to the heavily laden Paratroopers where there was a danger of them landing in water or boggy ground such as the airborne landings in Holland etc. they are in lovely un-damaged condition with minor storage dirt and will still inflate although how long they will hold the air for is un-sure, all closure valves work well and all materials and straps are excellent the main rubber being in good soft condition. They are dated 1944. The period photograph shows men wearing identical life preservers on landingcraft on their way to the Normandy beaches D-Day June 6th 1944
