An original WW2 Indian made MKII bayonet for the SMLE service rifle, this is similar in size to the 1903 pattern bayonet and much shorter than the 1907 pattern. The pommel and spring catch are excellent with some loss to the original finish, the wooden grips are excellent, the blade is excellent with no sharpening but does show wear to its black finish and drag marks from being pulled in and out of the scabbard, it is clearly dated 8/43 (August 1943), the scabbard is in excellent condition but was originally a long 07 pattern scabbard which has been shortened, this appears to have been done a long time ago but whether it was done at the time or not we can not say.
