A pretty rare pair of items both to A.G.Holbeach consisting of Local Defence Volunteers certificate of enrolment for Nuneaton Trent Valley section, this also says that they are made a member of the L.M.S Railways unit on 22 Aug 1940, the card is a little tatty but strong and complete, the next item is to the same man and is his official LDV ID card to the Warwickshire Local Defence Volunteers, this is in excellent condition with some age related dirt marks. The LDV was set up at the outbreak of war as an emergency and members were ill equipped having no uniforms or equipment and mostly improvised weapons the LDV was very short lived soon to become the famous Home Guard whom were eventually better equipped and more organised.
