An original German made heavy-duty waist belt, we have been reliably informed that this is for use by the Kriegsmarine on ships & submarines while in rough weather, the heavy-duty clip would be attached to the rails or wires around the ship and a safety line could be attached to the large buckle to the front. Most probably of WW1 era as it has no visible Nazi markings just the makers mark of GEBRUDER OHLIGER, KAISERSLAJTERN. It is in excellent condition with minor surface wear and could do with a good polish; it is of the usual high quality German manufacture. This is quite a bulky item the belt is 44 inches long x3 ¼ inches wide, the large side spring clip is 7 inches tall and the whole lot weighs 1.3KG so it really is a heavy duty thing.
