A 100% original extremely scarce early WW2 tissue map of Abyssinia and surounding area, early WW2 covert maps were printed on special paper made from mulberry leaves which is of the same thickness, type and apperance as tissue paper but apparently not affected by water, and is easily concealable and durable. Initially given to Secret Agents but also smuggled into P.O.W. camps concealed in items such as Board Games, books and other paraphernalia, these were also used by the RAF as part of their escape & evasion kit.the map is in perfect mint condition and measures 21 1/2 inches x 18 1/2 inches, these maps must have been a nightmare to use as they are so delicate, i assume that they would have been folded to the area that they were currently on to give it a bit of thickness and strength. this has to be a pretty scarce item i can't think that many of these have survived the ravages of time.
